Eon Blue wrote:Wife and I watched an episode of "Bar Rescue" that took place in KC. The bar was right on the WY/JO line and was grandfathered in as a smoking bar. During the episode, it was identified as being in "JOHNSON COUNTY, KANSAS" but they frequently flashed KC skyline shots. The main guy really harped on the average income of JoCo even though the bar was closer to being in WyCo than JoCo for all intents and purposes. Rather amusing.
Was this the one with the raccoon roaming the bar?

Yeah, poor little guy probably needs to be checked for secondhand smoke damage.

Local chef Michael Smith will appear on Esquire Network's "Knife Fight", I presume to battle to the death.

Just saw an ad for Liberty University filmed in the lobby of the Kauffman. Nice view of the CC/Liberty Memorial area.

How does Liberty University have anything to do with KC or Liberty Memorial or Kauffman? That must be one confusing commerical.

I saw that last weekend and did a double-take. I guess bully that people want to film there with the city as a backdrop?

Nice shots of Kansas City tonight on 20/20, the story covered the highway shooter but it was so dramatized saying the city was on edge, etc, etc.

The Guardian newspaper in the United Kingdom does an article on Kansas City.

Kansas City, Missouri: the city Gone Girl’s Amy loved to hate

Gone Girl’s Amy resents Kansas City for its lack of hipster cool. But in real life our writer discovers a town buzzing with potential

In the movie Gone Girl, Ben Affleck's character wears a "Boulevard Brewery" t-shirt.

Also, that new movie "The Good Lie" is about a true life Kansas City couple that adopts some Sudanese refugees. I remember the national news story awhile back had the guys all wearing Royals gear. I saw a clip in the trailer, and there are shots of the KC skyline and of course, scenes on a farm.

slightly "off" article, the movie had nothing to do with kc.

in any case, i loved gone girl. i liked the sound direction, the capturing of the lower midwestern summer sounds, the soundtrack by trent reznor, the casting was amazing. i know the location manager for the missouri portion of this film, and for what seems like most major release movies in missouri (including the "up in the air" locations), and they did a great job. i'm thinking about seeing it again.

And the hits keep coming.
I think its so terrible that its actually kind of cool, this should replace Friends in Low places at the Royals game, but they have to play the video everytime.
