Proposal to TIF Swope Park, create youth soccer complex
Print version of the Biz Journal has a story about a proposal being discussed between the city and Sporting KC to redo the team practice facility and surround it with youth soccer fields for tournament play, using $18-20 million of TIF funds.

I'm a little surprised they didn't do anything to improve access. That road in/out is a mess on weekend mornings.

Isn't the smaller parking lot to the north for Sporting KC? The other lot would be for the fields.

For the situation to improve any, both lots would have to be available nearly all the time. A sizable amount of parking currently takes place on the grass next to the main road.

I wonder how the folks at RBI feel about seeing urban baseball diamonds bulldozed for soccer fields.

State Cup and Presidents Cup champions from Kansas and Missouri to be crowned at Swope
Sporting Club announced on Tuesday that Swope Soccer Village will host the top Under-15 thru Under-18 girls soccer teams in the states of Missouri and Kansas during the fall 2014 editions of the following four tournaments:
Missouri State Cup
Missouri Presidents Cup
Kansas State Cup
Kansas Presidents Cup
The semifinals of each competition will take place on Saturday, Nov. 8 and will determine the championship matches, to be held on Sunday, Nov. 9 in the lead-up to the 2014 Big 12 Soccer Championship on the Swope Soccer Village championship field.
