39th Street Gateway

Post by flyingember »

There's work at 39th and US 71. I saw equipment in the lot this morning so that's a good sign.

No new permits so this may be related to the demo permit from 6 years ago.

I have always like the (empty) commercial buildings along Woodland. Are they going to be demolished?? :-(

Is this for the lot where the old Mann school was? The one that burnt down (arsoned?) at the NE corner of 39th & 71? I echo Midtownkid's like of the little commercial node at Woodland.

Oh good! Well maybe this project will help with those buildings! (or i guess it could also lead to their destruction 8-[ )

Looking at the permit contact information, it appears that the work might be related to this overall neighborhood redevelopment area being done by this development company.

There is now at least one building on this block.

a sign says 2 and 3 bedroom duplexes

one is vertical, another has a pad poured and 2-3 more are getting staked.

This is up to five duplexes going up. Looks like it will hold 10-12. They have one bad aspect, there's no entry off the street for the ones I saw off the west side and the east side is above a retaining wall. So there's no street focus at all. Each unit has one garage spot off the middle of the block.

But they fit into the neighborhood nicely as far as the design goes. it matches the existing density

I found some plans for the housing portion being designed by Hans Thomas & Associates LLC.
