It is the next day, 9/14/13. We drove to Wichita and visited the Sedgwick County Zoo.
All kinds of things to see.
Flamingo City.
Family affair.
Feed me!
Well-fed duck.
I’ll grab any chance for flowers. This is a small section of the original image.
Will we see any real penguins?
Yes! Nice digs.
Kansas 2013 Part 3
Re: Kansas 2013 Part 3
You may recall that we entered the penguin exhibit.
Hmm. Where’d I put that couch?
It was difficult to photograph these guys under water. They were fast. But I tried.
We could get sort of close.
Yay! More flowers!
I wonder what this will look like when it blooms.
I like the lighting in this one.
Wall mural.
Nice fish. Almost like a gold bar.
I’m glad these things don’t get really big.
Ditto with this one. He’s pretty, though.
So’s this one. I prefer that these guys be asleep.

We are in a section of the zoo that many people would not appreciate. But frogs can be cute.
So can whatever this is.
"I’m getting a little tired of salads all the time."
"Wake me when dinner’s ready."
"I’m so pretty."
"No, I was not designed by a Hollywood prop artist."
"Okay. You go your way, I’ll go mine."
"It will take us two days to get over to that dish."
Nice diversion.
Yuk.
Ever see a spider wearing blue velvet pants?
"What? Me worry?"

Re: Kansas 2013 Part 3
We saw this guy last time, but he demands more attention.
Dalmatian sting ray. (Just kidding.)
Reminds me of Jack in the Pulpit.
“We associate only with birds of nobility."
“Where’s my nose?”
“Why do we raise one foot? Because if we raised the other foot, we’d fall down."
Have you ever seen bats trying to eat? (Or maybe drink.)
Have you ever seen a bat’s tongue?
Doesn’t he have a pretty coat?
This one isn’t particularly pretty, but he was always underfoot. I just now noticed that he has a seed in his beak.
Not a terribly good picture, but it’s the only one I have of these guys.
More my speed.

Canada geese show up at zoos on their own. And just about every other place, too.
It’s almost like a dream, where parts are not real.
These flowers look like a cross between candy and a carnival ride.
Little show-offs.
You probably cannot tell, but this not-so-great picture took a long time to create.
Just a rose, or two.
Spent some time on this one, too, but the results aren’t too bad.
It’s all real. Just crinkled around the edges a bit.
Nice arrangement of green, gold and purple.
The bear has grabbed my son’s foot. My husband doesn’t care.
Aww.
“Look at us!"

Re: Kansas 2013 Part 3
Looks like a flower pretending to be a butterfly.
These are brighter than most asters I’ve seen.
These daisies cannot figure out which way to go.
“This is our fence."
Come blow your horn.
The background was busy and not useful, so I deleted it. The fog was a happy mistake.
Symbol of strength and freedom.
Ducks and fish fighting for the same morsels.
Nice waterway at the zoo.
Reaching for the sky.
Grass and fences. Two of my favorite subjects.
A standout.

A field of flowers at a zoo isn’t a bad thing.
Dreamy flowers and grass among the trees.
My son is visiting some cranes in the bird section of the zoo.
Getting ready to take off, I guess.
Everybody needs some sun.
Probably a type of goose.
“So, I need jewelry on both legs?"
The red flowers were featured, but the blue ones snuck in. I like them better.
“Look at me! Look at me! I’m beautiful!"
This is my second attempt with this picture. I like the subjects and their obvious bond, but I had to rotate the image 18º
counterclockwise to get it “straight.” The resulting treatment is only a notch better than my first attempt.
Looks good enough to eat. I’m sure some of our six-legged friends would agree.
