We drove through Nebraska and South Dakota in August, 2014. These pictures start with the second day, on 8/16/14.
Tree outside the car window in Nebraska.
The flowers seemed so friendly. You can see them waving.
A little green bug feels right at home.
That’s it for now.

Congratulations on capturing our tree on your trip up to the Dakotas.
Re: Nebraska-Dakotas 2014
Ha! I think the weather was rather uncooperative that day. I was probably trying to show how bad it was, but all I got was bad pictures.
The flowers behaved beautifully.
This may not look like much on the outside, but it is a museum with lots of things to see.
All kinds of old vehicles. It wasn’t terribly easy to take their pictures.
Not a great picture, but a fascinating subject. Horses that pulled hearses wore mourning dress.
This little boxer graced a vehicle as a hood ornament.
The little boxer is over a grill I found interesting.
Old switchboard.
Old cash register.
Another switchboard.
Nice lily.
Odd flowers.
Teensy flower.

Whenever there is a chance to capture flowers…
…I’ll grab it.
This place, called “Pioneer Village,” really has a village to visit.
I took many pictures in and around this old boat. This is where folks could bed down.
I’m standing on the boat, looking down at the rest of the room. That’s my son, looking at something.
I guess the boat pulls the car on the water. ; )
Privileged hotel guests got to ride in this carriage.
Airport beacons, for anyone who cares.
The village stockade.
For the musically inclined.
For the sleepy.
For the thirsty.
For the bored.
We’re done!

We’re still visiting the Pioneer Village. This is a store where people could purchase dry goods and maybe other things.
What a crock.
Checkers, anyone?
Land office.
A sign explained how chunks of limestone were used as fence posts. You can see fossils in the stone.
Firehouse.
Not sure what this “engine” was used for. Maybe parades.
A train office, through the haze of history.
Kids always had a school to attend.
Here is a shot of the kids and their teacher, all dressed up.
Not sure what a “sod house” was. I should have read the signs.
Come and sit or sew for a spell.
Maybe people will take tours of your house one day.

Re: Nebraska-Dakotas 2014
Before the zoo exploded in attendance over the past couple of decades, Harold Warp's Pioneer Village, was Nebraska's #1 tourist attraction.
It's actually a pretty amazing collection they've amassed there. The Stuhr Museum in Grand Island is another I-80 'must stop'.

Oh, wow. I didn't know all that. Thanks for the info.
My grandmother used a wood-burning fire like this. People baked cakes in these things!
People who live in glass houses...
…shouldn’t stow thrones.
We’ll just focus on a small part of the Tiffany shade.
I took this picture from an angle. So I tried to twist it into shape here.
Did some adjustment on this one, too.
Could not get this image to cooperate. Gave up and went with this. Did learn how to use Photoshop’s polygonal lasso tool.
Inside the church.
Learned my lesson and went with just the pipes in the originally portrait-oriented image.
Church window from the inside. Duh.
I spent way too much time on this one. The results are not worth the trouble.
Merry-go-round resident. Or two. Or three.
If you must go around in circles this week, may it be on a merry-go-round.

As we stroll through the Pioneer Village, we see a barn.
Closer inspection reveals lovely flowers.
This one jumps out at you.
The orange lily deserves a closer look.
Cone flowers love fences...
…and leaves.
And barn walls.
And each other.
Another stand-out. Or show-off.
All the buildings were shaded by big, old trees.
Lots of activity around this building in days past.
I guess this is an old accordion. It looks like an alien typewriter.
Stay in tune this week.

We’re still tromping around the Pioneer Village and looking inside buildings. Here we have someone working on a loom.
Remember jukeboxes?
Let’s play.
Anyone remember the RCA dog?
If you need a rug, just make one on a loom.
What can we do with a few blocks of wood?
Feeling quilty?
Anyone want to take a nap?
You won’t fall out of this one.
Where are all the children?
When I was a little girl, I was terrified of getting polio and having to live in an iron lung like this.
My father used to type his engineering reports on a typewriter like this.

Just listen.
Nice place to snooze.
Let’s fiddle with a few flowers.
Just like when he was back on the farm.
Why yellow?
Ditto.
I wonder what this thing used to carry.
So many wagons of varying purposes and colors.
Wells Fargo plastered onto itself.
Party animals! No, wait. Merry-go-round guys.
And a few of their buddies.
Outside we find the real treasures.
Now go outside and smell the roses.
