I doubt that. P&L District was conceived before SC and having a team was a long shot. Rents are high to recover the cost of P&L.trailerkid wrote: Cordish's leases were based on ... having a sports team.

Flying Saucer appears to be doing really well, I don't know why they'd bail.
Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal
+1 It appears to be quite busy every night of the week.mean wrote:Flying Saucer appears to be doing really well, I don't know why they'd bail.

looks like Flying Saucer is building an outdoor patio on the western/Walnut St. exposure. They installed a door and stairs leading down to a partitioned off dining area. pretty cool.

Just saying I could see Flying Saucer leaving P+L. They'd be a nice fit in the area around 20th/Baltimore in the Xroads.
Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal
I do not agree about this patio. It is completely blocking the sidewalk and I wish they would not have built it on the already too narrow sidewalk. I think it is clearly for smokers as Flying Saucer's windows already open fully to the street in summer.KC-wildcat wrote:looks like Flying Saucer is building an outdoor patio on the western/Walnut St. exposure. The whole design of that corner sucks if you ask me...windows should be at street level, not 10' up. I don't mind the patio...

They'd probably be nice fit anywhere in the metro.trailerkid wrote:Just saying I could see Flying Saucer leaving P+L. They'd be a nice fit in the area around 20th/Baltimore in the Xroads.

Haha, I'm just the opposite. I like the windows how they are, the patio-as mentioned previously-I cannot stand. It's a smoker's pen.KCPowercat wrote:The whole design of that corner sucks if you ask me...windows should be at street level, not 10' up. I don't mind the patio...

Hotel opens tonight. went to a pre opening event earlier this week and didn't find the place very impressive. lighting for a dance club were pretty unimpressive. maybe the music will save it. just a very uninteresting space.

Those are two of the busiest places down there and Cordish can't be making much money if they occupy all the leases. I would think they'd want more, not fewer, non-cordish concepts.trailerkid wrote:Lucky Strike was an interesting place. I'm guessing they just chose not to renew their lease. Cordish's leases were based on high estimated traffic and having a sports team.
I'd prefer the whole bowling lounge go away.
I could see all the non-Cordish bars (flying saucer, GB, ?) leaving the area once leases run up.

Heard Makers Mark is being replaced with a "gastropub"???
Also, did anything take over the bowling alley?

Damn. MM has always been something of a guilty pleasure for me. I like the idea of a cheesy big-name bourbon themed place, and it has an attractive, low-key bar and tons of bourbons with tasting sizes available. It is pricey, though, and the food isn't good.Heard Makers Mark is being replaced with a "gastropub"???
Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal
Somehow this doesn't surprise me. I've been in the live block hundreds of times and never once stepped foot into Makers Mark. I'm sure a lot of others echo that comment, hince why it's not doing that well.
