Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anybody care that the Royals now lead the World Series 5-1?

I don't follow sports as closely as I used to... why a day gap between Mets games. And then it looks like 4 games @Yankees but only 3 at home.
And aren't the fountains supposed to turn on city wide on home opener day? The big Nichols fountain (the horse fountain) in Mill Creek Park not yet running - is not under repair, which they did last year.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's 20 interleague games per season. Two out of three years (like 2016), it's broken up as: 4 games (2 home, 2 away) vs. the "natural rival" in the corresponding NL division + 4 games (2 home, 2 away) vs. one team in an NL division + 12 games (4 3-game series) vs. the other four teams in the division. The day gap this year is because the opener got moved to Sunday night to accommodate ESPN. There's either 6 or 7 games (66 total) against each of the 10 non-Central AL teams, so some years you end up playing 4 games away. I assume that the MLB schedulers try to even out any home/away imbalances in the long run.earthling wrote:I don't follow sports as closely as I used to... why only 2 games against Mets (used to typically be 3 game stints) and why a day gap between games. As always, Wikipedia has much more information on such things.

"why a day gap between Mets games"
There has been a gap for many years. Put in the schedule in case the "Opening Day" gets rained out. That way the "Opening Day" with it's tickets sold can be rescheduled the next day instead of later in the year.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is never a 2 day gap though. I think the espn night game screwed it all up because they were orginally suppose to play monday then off tues then off thurs

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it just me or do Royal's bats always seem to start slowly???? Seems like we rely on our pitching staff for the first third or so of the year.
Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the season just starts slow. Last year, we had our best batting average by .30 points in April and slugged over .450 as a team.
Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes if were are talking about the last three years. Lets give it more than two games against a couple of Cy Young candidates before we judge this year.Highlander wrote:Is it just me or do Royal's bats always seem to start slowly???? The offense woke up tonight. Kennedy with another great start. Took 3 of 4 in Houston going into the weekend with the A's.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are no weekend I-70 series games this year, as far as I can tell. WTF.
Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They started the new I-70 series format two years ago, I think - two in KC, two in STL during the same Mon-Thurs week.
I think both teams actually preferred this based on the fact the Royals were sick of their stadium being all red for one full weekend and the Cards didn't want to waste a premium home weekend on the Royals.
The past two years have obviously changed the dynamic a bit, but by the time MLB scheduling catches up, we'll probably suck again.
