I think people coming from the East had the easiest time to park as well as the least amount of traffic. People coming from the east have tons of entry points into downtown via side streets, and major roads. People might have also felt uneasy parking on the east side since they think of that area as nothing but bad. If you were coming from the Northland you basically only have 4 or 5 ways to get into downtown.

Yeah, I took the 109 into downtown (well, to 12th and Troost anyway, where it seems all the buses ended up) and there really wasn't much traffic along 9th Street heading in. After the parade (and failing to get into Union Station) I walked up to 10th and caught an Uber home. Took like 5 minutes. There was virtually no traffic along 10th afterward. I-70 looked pretty bad though, and the crossroads was gridlocked.

Liberty Memorial detailed image. Can zoom in and see faces clearly, even on LM deck...

Gordon declines $14M option and is a free agent. Not unexpected. One forecasts a 5 year deal at $100M total. Probably too rich for KC, especially in years 4 and 5.

To give an idea how big up to 800K gathering is for KC...

Though Bay Area has 2 teams. STL attracted about 500K when Cards won in 2006 after 20+ year drought.

Just realized while thinking about the Gordon situation that, no matter what this front office does this offseason (with him or otherwise), for the first time in like eight years I'm going to completely trust that they know what they're doing

Yeah. I'm now a believer about the resolution achievable by spy satellites.

I just had a really busy summer and checking the board kinda fell off my radar, but I mean we won the World Series so I had to check in

I just looked that up to satisfy my own curiosity and, shockingly, it's another 1985 milestone. Since George won in 1980, the highest a Royal has placed in the MVP voting is #2, in 85 (also George). Quisenberry also placed 3rd and 6th in 1984 and 1983, respectively.

Nobody else has finished in the top 3, where Cain is now, but Hal McRae was 4th in 1982, Brett again was 7th in 1990, Sabes was 8th in 1989, David Cone in 1994 and Carlos Beltran in 2003 both placed 9th (Beltran is the most recent Royal to crack the top 10, but Gordon was 12th last year), and Gary Gaetti was 10th in 1995. A smattering of other Royals have gotten MVP votes over the years, but not enough to lift them into the top ten (besides Gordon, there was Sweeney, Montgomery, probably some others, I didn't really keep track of these as I was clicking through the lists).

Will we be able to see any of the 4th-10th place results any longer? I don't remember them releasing a "top 3" before the announcement in years past.

Regardless - It's great seeing Royals being recognized for their achievements.

It looks like they released top threes the last couple of years at least.

A little off topic, but MidtownCat hasn't posted in this thread in a year and a half, after claiming he was "done with David Glass." Kudos to him if he stuck with it.

I think he was Billy Butler.

A little surprised but glad that the market for outfielders didn't put him out of their reach.
