Besides a new Kauffman.
Sadly, I think about this WAY too often for my mental health.

yes. it will not have a shelters until something happens there, but there will still be platforms and real-time arrival signs. thankfully -- or maybe unfortunately? -- most of the surrounding parcels are owned by commerce bank.
Next time I see a Kemper in the elevator I'll try to ask what it would take to kill the parking lots. Besides a new Kauffman.
You mean Dave's new favorite Park and Ride for the 7th Street stop?

ha! i'm going to start saying "7th & main" when people ask me if we're building a park-n-ride for phase 1 (of course, the entire route is one big park-n-ride -- garages and lots EVERYWHERE!

The Junction instead of North Loop and another name for "Metro Center"...maybe "city Center" or something...was Metro Center chosen as a possible link to the transit corridor on 12th?

Also was there some sort of rush to naming the stops? Seems like a perfect opportunity to ask for public feedback.

12th & main will be a very big transfer point after streetcar service begins and KCATA completes its downtown re-routing. even before that it was the #1 stop for ridership.

i like the idea of the junction, but it doesn't have any meaning today -- no services intersect there.

Metro Center definitely makes sense then. Big transfer point without much sidewalk space might suck.

Yeah I know the junction doesn't make any sense....but I still like it :)

I love The Junction name idea. Maybe with a plaque about what the corner used to be like to inspire people to protect the historical assets of the city?

I'm still partial to my idea for 7th/Main's name: "Surface Parking". Alternatively, "These Parking Lots are Owned by Commerce Bank".

I'm sure there will be much shouting at the 16th hole of the Liberty Memorial.

Couple of shots from this morning's groundbreaking marking the start of official construction:

It was kind of a warm walk down there--if only I could have taken a streetcar...
