Sadly, I think about this WAY too often for my mental health.Besides a new Kauffman.

It will only take me at most 10 minutes to walk to that stop and walk there I willbeautyfromashes wrote:Why is there a stop at 7th and Main? Anticipated development?

You mean Dave's new favorite Park and Ride for the 7th Street stop?smh wrote:Next time I see a Kemper in the elevator I'll try to ask what it would take to kill the parking lots. Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
ha! i'm going to start saying "7th & main" when people ask me if we're building a park-n-ride for phase 1 (of course, the entire route is one big park-n-ride -- garages and lots EVERYWHERE!

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
The Junction instead of North Loop and another name for "Metro Center"...maybe "city Center" or something...was Metro Center chosen as a possible link to the transit corridor on 12th?
Also was there some sort of rush to naming the stops? Seems like a perfect opportunity to ask for public feedback.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
12th & main will be a very big transfer point after streetcar service begins and KCATA completes its downtown re-routing. even before that it was the #1 stop for ridership.KCPowercat wrote:The Junction instead of North Loop and another name for "Metro Center"...maybe "city Center" or something...was Metro Center chosen as a possible link to the transit corridor on 12th?
i like the idea of the junction, but it doesn't have any meaning today -- no services intersect there.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Metro Center definitely makes sense then. Big transfer point without much sidewalk space might suck.DaveKCMO wrote:12th & main will be a very big transfer point after streetcar service begins and KCATA completes its downtown re-routing. even before that it was the #1 stop for ridership.KCPowercat wrote:The Junction instead of North Loop and another name for "Metro Center"...maybe "city Center" or something...was Metro Center chosen as a possible link to the transit corridor on 12th?

Yeah I know the junction doesn't make any sense....but I still like it
Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
I love The Junction name idea. Maybe with a plaque about what the corner used to be like to inspire people to protect the historical assets of the city?
Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
I'm still partial to my idea for 7th/Main's name: "Surface Parking". Alternatively, "These Parking Lots are Owned by Commerce Bank".

Seriously, we need some guerrilla public shaming tactics like this.smh wrote:I'm still partial to my idea for 7th/Main's name: "Surface Parking". Alternatively, "These Parking Lots are Owned by Commerce Bank".

I'm sure there will be much shouting at the 16th hole of the Liberty Memorial.chaglang wrote:Sounds like a job for our Officially Sanctioned Tactical Urbanism group.kboish wrote:Seriously, we need some guerrilla public shaming tactics like this.smh wrote:I'm still partial to my idea for 7th/Main's name: "Surface Parking".
